Embroidered vs Woven vs PVC
Three patch construction methods, three different looks. Here is when to pick each.
Embroidered
Thread-on-twill construction with raised stitches. The classic patch look — durable, premium feel, ideal for logos with bold shapes and moderate detail.
Woven
Threads woven flat into the base fabric. Much higher detail than embroidered, no raised texture, better for tiny text and intricate gradients.
PVC
Soft rubber patches molded with dimensional detail. Waterproof and weather-resistant, perfect for outdoor gear, tactical kit, and gym bags.

Patch Backing Guide
Pick the right backing for how the patch will actually be used.
Iron-On
A heat-activated adhesive layer fuses the patch to fabric in roughly 30 seconds with a household iron. Great for cotton garments, gym bags, and apparel where you want a clean, no-sew finish without long-term washability concerns.
Velcro
A hook backing on the patch pairs with a loop panel on your gear so patches can be swapped at will. The go-to for tactical vests, plate carriers, flight suits, morale patch collections, and anything that needs to be field-changeable.
Sew-On
No adhesive — just a clean twill back ready to be hand- or machine-sewn to any garment. The strongest, longest-lasting attachment, and the standard included on every patch order at no extra cost.
Adhesive
A peel-and-stick repositionable backing for short-term applications like trade-show booths, packaging, signage, and event giveaways. Not designed for washing or long-term wear.

What sizes do you offer?+
We stock three standard patch sizes: 2 inch (small, ideal for hats and sleeves), 3.5 inch (medium, the most popular for chest placement and bags), and 5 inch (large, perfect for jacket backs and bold display). Custom sizes are available on request; call (631) 458-3842 for a quote.
What backing should I choose?+
Sew-on is the most durable and is included at no extra cost. Iron-on adds a heat-activated adhesive that bonds to most cottons and is a clean DIY option for $2 more. Velcro is removable and reusable, perfect for tactical gear, uniforms, and morale patches, for $3 more.
What's a merrowed border?+
A merrowed border is the thick, raised stitched edge wrapped around a patch by a specialty merrow machine. It is the classic patch look — durable, fray-resistant, and slightly dimensional. It is included as the standard border on every patch we make.
How long do patches take?+
Standard production is 5 to 7 business days from artwork approval. Rush production is available in 2 to 3 business days for an upcharge. Shipping is on top of production time, and orders over $75 ship free.
What artwork files do you accept?+
We accept PNG, JPG, SVG, WebP, AI, EPS, and PDF. Vector files (SVG, AI, EPS) reproduce best because they scale cleanly, but a high-resolution raster file works fine for most logos. If your file needs cleanup, our digitizing team handles it before production.
What's the minimum order?+
There is no minimum. We make single patches and bulk runs at the same per-piece price tier. Volume discounts kick in at 25 pieces and increase with quantity — request a quote for any order over 25.
Are these patches washable?+
Yes. Sew-on and iron-on patches are machine washable on a normal cycle. We recommend turning the garment inside out and washing cold to preserve the colors over time. Velcro patches should be removed before washing the garment they live on.
How are they made?+
We embroider your design onto a twill base using commercial multi-needle machines, then a merrow machine wraps the edge with a tight border. The backing (sew-on, iron-on, or velcro) is then applied. Every patch is finished and inspected by hand at our Huntington shop.
